LA Zoooooooo

Tuesday.

Tuesday is now my (our) only day for day trips and fun since Meg has pre-school 3 days a week and the sacred ballet class on the other day. It's funny how one little measly 45 minute ballet class at 11 am can ruin your chance for a trip to the beach, grandma's house or the D word (Disneyland. She'll figure out the secret code soon enough, I can already see her brain trying to detect our meaning when we say it, she squints her eyes at me). I try to make sure that every Tuesday we do something fun together, even if we do something at or near home. I am all too aware that my Meg may start kindergarden next year and then I will lose even my Tuesdays with her. It's like a lightbulb glowing at the end of a long dark hallway that keeps getting brighter and brighter the closer we get to it! My house will get cleaner, but my heart will be missing her. I can't think about it, shake it off, Trac. . .

So this Tuesday, January 12, Meg and I and went to the LA Zoo with Jane and her boys, Nate and Zach. We got everyone in one car (hurray for the third row!) and had a really good time! Of course the weather was all gorgeous perfection. Meg had recently attended the birthday party of a friend from school. The party was adventure themed and she received lots of explorer gear like this fun hat, some binoculars, a tool belt and canteen. All of it came with us to the zoo.

It was kind of hard to get a standard smile shot of all the kids at once, so I asked them to just make a funny face while "racing" around this circle planter. Only Nate realized that if everyone was running around the circle in the same direction no one was winning.

We ate lunch with the giraffes:

It was a good day. We made some plans to do some more fun stuff with Jane and her guys in a few weeks. So, stay tuned. Jane, if you are reading this, I have lots more pics for you of your cute boys!
