The birthday just never seems to end!

While we celebrated on Saturday, Meg's actual birthday was Monday. When we woke up this morning, I asked her what she'd like to do today? Zoo? Park? Beach? And like any self-respecting girl of four years old she answered: Disneyland! So we packed up and headed to the happiest place on earth. Meg and I had such a fun day together visiting princesses and Mary Poppins and finishing up with a lovely boat ride on Small World. I had hoped to be home by 3, but we were racing to be home before Brian so we could eat Meg's birthday dinner of choice: Red Robin. I think she chose it because she really wanted to have the waiters clap and sing to her, because as soon as we arrived she started asking when they were going to sing. She was all giggly when they finally did. I think she had a wonderful day!

My best attempt at 4-year-old pictures. Not the worst, but we'll try again!

We had to order it, so it arrived a week after her birthday--Meg's first bike! She absolutely adores this thing and we took it down to the beach for a spin. Meg only fell twice and each time insisted that Brian walk beside her holding her handles for a few minutes. She was adorable with her bike bell, ringing it at anyone who came within a few feet of her and calling out "excuse me!" with a huge smile! We ended up on the sand with our jeans rolled up and building sand piles (In November! It was in the 70's!).

Actual conversation while walking/riding the boardwalk at Hermosa Beach:

Meg: Daddy, what does that lady have on her feet?
Brian: Those are roller blades, they are like roller skates, and they make you go really fast!
Meg: I want to do that!
Brian: Do you have roller skates?
Traci: No, she does not. Let's just try to keep her alive on the bike for a few days, k?
Brian: Huh, I wonder where my roller blades are. They must be in that big blue box in the garage. I should get them out.
Meg: YOU have roller skates, daddy?
Brian: yes! I used to go roller blading all the time!
Meg: Do you ride on your roller skates when you are at work?
Brian: um, no.
Meg: But when do you ride on your roller skates because I don't see you ride on them and I see you all the time except when you are at work?
Brian: A long time ago, before you were born I used to ride on my roller blades!
Meg: Ohhhhh. Before I was born you used to ride on your roller skates at work.
