Memorial Day Weekend

We didn't do any traveling over the long weekend, just stuck close to home. We were almost alone in our neighborhood, everyone else seems to have left town so it was quiet around here. On Saturday I spent a little much needed time alone, I went to the city and wandered the big Barnes for a long time. Then I went to Soho. On Sunday we went to Rye, a little town about 20 minutes away. They have a beach. Correction: they think they have a beach. But it's nice enough and the little town was cute. We had lunch and walked around and the weather was really great. On Monday we went to this horse-trot thing at John Jay. I am still unclear on what the event was, but it was exciting for Meg to see all the horses milling around, she even got to get up close to this little pony named Little Prince. His owner was a sweet 11-year old named Elizabeth who had all kinds of advice for us on how to buy Meg a horse (!). Then we went home and cooked/painted/gardened/cleaned. I made some killer ice cream in my new ice cream maker, it was my first batch so I just did vanilla bean but I'm dying to make cinnamon ice cream next time. It was truly delish.

Meg meets Little Prince

Little Prince let Meg help him pick some grass to eat. Right after I took this shot he gave her a little love nudge which sent her backwards, but she thought it was great.
