'Tis the Season!

This weekend we got into the spirit of things! Meg has been in awe of Christmas trees ever since they stared to pop up all over town; lighted reindeer have also caught her fancy (the kind that nod their heads on people's front lawn). Last week we took her to the Lincoln Center Christmas tree lighting. They put on a little show with entertainment by the Nutcracker dancers and singers from the Opera. Meg was enchanted by the dancers and musicians, she asked for more and then played her "air trumpet" as we walked away. This weekend we drove into the city for some shopping and Christmas Spirit, and Meg had a great time oo-ing and ahh-ing over the displays. On the way home we bought a Christmas tree. This is our first human sized tree since we lived in Colorado, five years ago, so we were pretty excited! A little too excited, I guess, because once we got it home and cut off the netting it was about five times bigger than we had intended it to be. When it popped open we laughed so hard because the tree took up a third of our living room! Of course we don't have enough twinkle lights so we need to go get more. Meg enjoyed pulling things out of the boxes and spent lots of time stringing gold beads around the angel's head then asking it to sing along with her while she sang a medley of her favorite songs.
