It Feels Like We're Fallin' for Fall!

If you know the origin of the title of this blog, I've got you pegged! Anyone willing to confess it?

I found this leaf at the playground. I thought it was fake, but it's not. I can't say I've ever seen anything like this before!

So, it looks like Fall may actually pay us a visit this year. But not this weekend. It has been in the low 80's all weekend, and we have been wearing summer clothes! Even so, we've been enjoying the new season. On Friday we went to the Great Jack-O-Lantern Blaze at the Van Cortland Manor. They carve 4,000 pumpkins in all kinds of shapes and displays and light them up. The pictures came out really lousy so just trust me, it was really neat. I did some investigating (looking very closely) and discovered that the major displays are fake pumpkins but who can blame them for not wanting to throw them out every year? Meg was actually feeling yucky with a cold most of the week so we almost didn't go, but it seems the Big Blaze was just what was needed to cheer her up.

On Saturday (10/6) we went apple picking! It was hot out there in the sun, but what fun we had! Meg was charmed by all the apples on the ground and up in the trees, she ran among the trees and took bites out of almost every apple she touched! It was very Laura Ingalls. She was still feeling lousy but had fun despite herself. You can see her getting tuckered out by the time we rode the hay truck back to the parking lot. Highlight: Yummy in our tummy apple cider doughnuts fresh and hot! Lowlight: Meg was trying to say hi to a little boy but he threw an apple at her and hit her square in the chest. :( Let's end on another highlight: feeding apples to mommy and daddy all day, and settling in my lap to lounge under a tree for yet another crunchy snack. :)

P.S. That's alot of apple pictures! Sorry, I kept loading the wrong ones and it's too much trouble to get them off.
P.P.S. Yes, I made apple sauce! It's all in the freezer!
