Did you know about this place and not tell me about it?
I was surfing the web (do we still use that term?) over my coffee and Meg's morning cartoons yesterday morning (Sat.) and found a blogger who had recently posted about going to the Flower Fields. I googled, found it and said, "hey Brian, look at this." He said, "let's go there today."
And we did!
We all sort of needed a pick-me-up-and-family-day. You see, my sister (Kristin) has been very very sick with pneumonia for 2 weeks and while I've been more than happy to take care of Emeri and Gus, I'm really tired and emotionally exhausted--we all are! Kristin even went to the ER last week, and it's been so sad to see her so ill that she cannot even lift her baby boy (granted, he is 24 pounds). I miss my sister and want her well. It's so hard to see her so weak.
So this is how we (Meg, Brian and I) spent our Saturday--at this gorgeous place that has some serious parking issues because half of So Cal seemed to be there. Once inside, though, there was no shortage of beauty!
Kristin is still pretty sick. Please continue to pray for her. We are so thankful for the small recovery milestones she has been making, like standing up and walking (I'm not kidding), eating small meals and being able to play with her children. Dr. Kyle Smart has become a super-star in our family and if you know him, please give him our love. We are so thankful for him and his continued efforts to help Kristin get well.
On that note, Meg has goop in her eyes today so maybe I'll just give Kyle a hug myself tomorrow (if I can get an appointment!).

Your flower field day was much needed. Thank you for all your help. I could not have survived (literally) without you. Recovery cannot come fast enough...... this week????!!! If you see Kyle tomorrow ask him! :)
Pretty! Was Meg allowed to pick the flowers?
Love, Karen
