Here is our cat hanging out on the neighbor's roof. I was getting worried because I called and called and she wouldn't come down so I thought maybe she was stuck. I even brought out the cat food bag and shook it, but she just looked over and me and said, "rrrwooooaaaaoow" (which is "meow" to an old lady of a cat). I decided that if she wanted to hang out there until dinnertime I'd let her, but guess what? She came home for dinner. Surprise, surprise. If you live in NY and would like to adopt a 12-year old snot of a cat who needs a good home. . . you think I'm kidding? I'm looking at 6 hours on a plane with a recently potty-trained 3-year old and this old feline--by myself. I really don't know who is going to be loudest noise maker. Brian and I are casting bets on who will have an accident first, the toddler or the cat.
I took my fancy-pants camera to Meg's school to take some yearbook photos. I was trying to stand on a ladder and get a shot of all 40 or so children holding hands in a big circle, but getting 40 kids to walk in a circle while a crazy lady on a ladder looms overhead was a little too challenging, so I just told them all to squish together instead and I think it is quite cute. Look who is front and center--as always. I think because she is so little, Meg merges to the front of any gathering or group of children so she can see what's going on:
Here is "Miss Ellen" who comes every Friday for music. She plays the guitar and, um, this thing. Case in point--Meg is front and center. Meg loooves Friday music with Miss Ellen, but Meg loves music in general, as we learned with Laca's classes. On Fridays, she likes to wear twirly skirts so she can dance and spin during music class. Sometimes she chooses to wear her purple guitar shirt, though.
Ahhh, little Meg taking a nap. Every day she gets to read a book to herself before she naps (yes, she still naps, it's so beautiful!). When she is done reading she throws the book on the floor. Every day I listen downstairs for the book to hit the floor, then I know she is sleeping. This was a special reading of some princess book or another, so she called all the princesses to court for nap-time. If you click on this picture to enlarge it you will see all the mini princesses lined up and "listening" in the pillow pocket.
Fun day in the city (it's warming up) a few Saturdays ago. We just walked around, went to Central Park and playgrounds, bought $5 lattes and wondered why we moved upstate. . .
Grandma Scribner is here! My mom came to Meg's utter delight. Meg spent the week before her arrival drawing her pictures and taping them all over the walls of the house. The night before her arrival, I convinced her to put them all in grandma's room, so she stood on the bed and taped them all over the walls around the bed. Should have taken a picture of that, why didn't I?? Too late now, in true grandma form, my mom took every last picture home with her. Now I'm gonna get it from Grandma Elyse--yes we will send you some pictures too! I have a load going to the post office this week! Here are Meg and mom at Columbus Circle, Time Warner Center:
Mom, Brian and my lovely napping Meg in a stroller! At three and a half years old she can still sleep in a stroller in New York City--that's mamma's girl! I guess it helps that she's so small and still FITS in her stroller. She' s come full circle now--she went from begging to get out and walk to begging to get in and ride. And she even says, "mom, I want a city nap in the stroller." Gosh, I love her.
And the John Lenon memorial looked especially pretty decorated with roses today.

OK - so what is that big hairy thing on our deck behind your beloved kitty on our roof?? You could probably ask Jenny to keep the cat - we hear she really loves Daphne.
Love the picture of kids! Ian misses his CNS buddies!
I thought the hairy thing was a pile of special organic soil that Jenny was cooking up (I was impressed but couldn't figure out why at this time of year) but I talked to Luke today and he revealed that it is LLAMA FUR that Jenny is going to spin into yarn! The reason it's on the back deck is because the best way to clean it is to leave it outside for the rain and snow to naturally. . . uh. . . cleanse. This was the absolute most unexpected answer and I laughed so much but I am now even more impressed and humbled by Jenny! I am so sad that I won't be around to garden next door to her this summer!
Love all the new blog pics! Lisa puts my parties to shame! The cakes were amazing! Love your sweet girl reading to the princesses. Such a cutie pie!
